My name is Rachel and I’m a TEFL certified English Foreign Language teacher with a degree in Creative Writing with Media and Communications. I have been working with several schools in Turkey to provide their students with after-school English lessons to help with their proficiency, and I’m experienced in teaching students from beginner to advanced levels. I also have two years of experience working as a mentor at an at-risk youth centre, where I worked with students to keep them motivated in school and helped them with their studies including proofreading essays, writing references etc.
In my lessons I use materials such as videos, photos, flashcards and interactive activities to keep students engaged with visual aids and relatable, real-world situations (for example taking the bus from A to B, going on holiday, a typical school day morning to evening, and more thought-provoking topics such as pros vs. cons of a zoo). The goal is to focus on conversational speaking to prepare students for using English in the real world.
